I have written three book chapters and only one has been cited. However, most people cited the whole book rather than specific chapters that had material of concern.

Hence, I now feel like I buried good material in a book. I could have written a review or an original research paper.

Do you think writing a book chapter is worth it? Is it true that writing a book chapter is burying good science on a library shelf?
