Grant applications and reports to granting agencies often require a bit of creative fiction. Truthfulness isn't always a sustainable value. One can have values without manifesting them in all contexts. My nuanced answer is yes and no.
For me very much so as what the general public certainly believes is true, for example believing what institutions tell us, is not and i feel academics need to make others aware of these discrepancies. Holding that for practical, intellectual purposes there is a Truth, no matter how faint or yellowed it is, suffices.
