Chi2 should be used for groups which count at least 5. What if one of the four groups compared is smaller? Additional question: any post-hoc test for comparison between groups? Thank you!

With this statement, I understand that you mean the "EXPECTED COUNT".
So, you have to club those groups (less Expected count) with other related groups.
and for categorical variables, only Chi-square test can be done.
