The Fortran program takes more time to solve these kinds of problems. If we write a code in Matlab would it take more time to solve? Could we use parallel computing for this purpose, and does anybody have model coding for finite volume simpler algorithms for basic problems or for this kind of problem?
If it is slow in FORTRAN then forget about MATLAB or any other programming language that requires an interpreter. I suggest you review your coding structure and solvers used in FORTRAN and try to optimize.
First of all I think you should revise your definition of long time run. the run time is highly depend on your problem and even if you use commercial codes it may take few days. In general I think 1-5 hours runtime for simple problem and 1-3 days for more complicated problems are normal runtime.if you use matlab in its most professional programed code my experience suggest 10-100 times more run time than fortran
