Hmm well I saw few reports were researchers mentioned that thermal expansion is possible in low pressure corrosive environment, but I still doubt them as thermal expansion takes place at higher temperature due to which electrons are energized and hence they start loosely bound and hence lead to overall expansion of the metal, but how can corrosive environment at low pressure lead to expansion, okay I agree low pressure is somehow responsible but what is the role of corrosive environment.

For instance, corrosion and thermal expansion of a carbon steel alloy, i.e., low carbon steel, may simultaneously occur in a low pressure (stress) environment, when such alloy used as a handle elbow in a stair rail , out the open surrounding, for an entry to a house or else. So, during the winter season, when the rain water gets collected in the cavity of the handle elbow, the water might cause corrosion to the inner side of the elbow, especially if the inner side was not protected against corrosion. In addition, the presence of the collected rain water in the cavity of the handle elbow may expands the elbow when the temperature drops below a sub-freezing temperature. consequently, causing the frozen water to expand the cavity of the elbow.
