Is there something like the table1 function from STATA available in R?

I am considering switching from R to STATA for several reasons. However a big plus of STATA is the table1 function which can in one line of code generate a baseline table of several groups and run the necessary tests according the type of variables. Is there something like that also available in R?

Yes, you can use table() function or CrossTable() function

Add chisq.test function for any variable you want just like in stata.
