Is there literature about a two day training of push or pull muscles in relation to experts and adaptation and recovery in resistance training?

Normally there is chest day and back day. Or push and pull. Has there been research related to two chest days (mon-tues) in two followed days.

This in relation to expert lifters, athletes, bodybuilders. In function of breaking through a plateau. Cyclist also train multiple days, and sometimes go into a severe training and recover days. So why (or has there been already) this could not be the case of elite lifters?

For instance a 80% 10-12 rep 3 sets on monday, and on tuesday a 70% 10-12 rep 3 sets. Or monday triceps involved chest and on tuesday more fly related (non-triceps) exercises.
