Yes sir there may be possibility of addition of few toxic substances at initial stages of addition of organic matter. Because it may have some moisture in it and some volatile compounds are toxic and other components also has phytotoxic effect.
It depends on the organic matter which we are adding and the percent moisture present in that organic matter.
But only few cases organic matter shows the toxicity otherwise mostly it gives the positive responses to crop.
