The dissolution of Ti-sponge starts above ~1670 °C depending on its purity according to Fe-Ti binary phase diagram. And the dissolution temperature of FeTi70 is nearly 1200 °C.

Also you may check the article below. They have found the recovery of Ti-sponge in RH degassing process was very low and decided to replace Ti-sponge with Low-Al FeTi.

Issue is does Ti sponge dissolve faster in carbon steel Impurities management is another aspect but more important is dissolution Can I get Ref of customer in global level if some one is using Ti sponge cored wire for plain carbon steel Can we get data on dissolution behavior of Ti in iron We know it's high , that's why we can make FeTi 70 but is it fast enough ?

By what I know from experimental trials, Ti is more effective ad deoxidizer so that you will be able to reduce oxygen content in weld metal but is not so effective as alloying raw material. In fact metallic Ti transfer coefficient is low and difficult to control depending on many welding conditions. On the contrary FeTi is useful to add Ti in weld metal composition with superior reliability and reproducibility but is only a mild deoxidizer. Hope to be useful...

Ti sponge is more effective as deoxidizer while FeTi for alloying. It is unusual to use sponge Ti because of cost and very variable transfer in weld metal, however can be used where deoxidation is required, in rutile FCW low carbon steel for example. BR Simone

Probably someone is using it industrially but the formulation of welding conaumables is confidential so it is difficult to access at these info...
