I don't know the answer to your specific question, but I will add the reference of papers about the evolution of P.vivax and P.falciparum, and their origins in African primates:
Liu et al (2014) African origin of the malaria parasite Plasmodium vivax, Nature Communications 5, Article number: 3346 (2014) doi:10.1038/ncomms4346
And there is a similar article for P.falciparum:
Prugnolle et al (2010) PNAS 107(4): 1458-1463. They show the closest P.falciparum to the human one if that found in gorilas from Cameroon.
I am a Kenyan master's student on scholarship at Mbarara University in Uganda. Please guide me on the novelty of my research topic considering the less surveillance on some pathogenic protozoans parasites "SPATIAL EPIDEMIOLOGY OF PATHOGENIC PROTOZOAN PARASITES IN WATER AND FRESH PRODUCE, KENYA: A PUBLIC HEALTH RISK" Email on [email protected]
