I am currently in my final year of BSc in Zoo biology and as a part of my course I am hoping to interview people or organisations about the route they took to get to their current career. I am interested in animal conservation, research and laboratory-based fields however, I am open to learn about other fields of animal science as well. Not sure if this pertains, but when I first read the question, which is directed to people working in the animal industry, I thought to myself you might mean the pet trade. Specifically, I have over 20 years experience in high-end ornamental tropical fish maintenance. If you can use my expertise, let me know. Glad to help.

I worked in veterinary medicine (clinical) and laboratory animal science (research) as a technologist/practice manager for more than 20 years. Today, while I no longer work directly in the "animal industry," I share my knowledge with students/undergrads who plan to apply to veterinary school (I'm their adviser). I am still engaged in animal rescue, behavioral projects (mostly dogs and horses), and participate in the area veterinary association. I would be happy to talk with you if it would help.
