Does anyone know how journals are given impact factors?
I know that this depends on the number of articles published there and the number of citations. But, can I do the calculation myself to a certain journal?
I also know that a journals is said to be an ISI journal if it has an impact factor.
The problem is that I do not know whether a journal is expected to become an ISI one or to be dropped from the indexing next year.
Is there any approach or service that can help me doing such expectations?
The final decision is in the ISI hands, and there is a number of more subtle factors like say the number of journal self-citations etc. Many journals are dropped from the ISI database if e.g. the journal self-citation rate is abnormally high or the journal is found to belong to a citation cartel, see Title Suppressions in the link below.

You mean that it depends on several factors and the decision at the end is subjective by ISI.
Hello Brother, A journal is said to be ISI, if its indexed in ISI Master List by thomson Reuters. However ISI Master list doesn't ensure that a journal has Impact factor also. There are hundreds of Journal in ISI Master List that have No impact factor. Now, there is a New list or indexing database cal Journal Citation Report (JCR) Web of Science also by Thomson Reuters (see link below). This list ensures that all journal in this database have Impact Factor and are of High Quality.

If you dont find a journal in this list, then that means tht journal is not indexed in WoS JCR list and has not got any authenticate IF.
