I am doing a research regarding alcohol consumption. Is there any validated questionnaire out there that can be used to assess the amount of alcohol consumed? It must be a respondent answered questionnaire.
You could use the WHO's AUDIT questionnaire. This includes measures of consumption, but has a broader focus, and is designed more for identifying people with (potentially) problematic patterns of alcohol use. It is available in a format for self-completion: whqlibdoc.who.int/hq/2001/who_msd_msb_01.6a.pdf
One problem with the AUDIT is that it does not specify the size / volume / alcohol content of "drinks". To get more accurate measures of recent consumption (in UK units) I have developed and used other measures taht I hav usd in online and paper self-adinistered surveys. Some information is available here:
Just read the article Richard sent- excellent! Is there a validated tool/questionnaire that measures the amount of alcohol taken (exact amount) perhaps like a pamphlet or diary and if it should be taken daily or monthly
Guys I just got one- it is from the NHS and is available free. Uploading one here for your use as well
I am actually doing a research linking a co-morbid to alcohol consumption (10 year cohort). Just wondering is there any validated questionnaire I can use to measure that. I plan to review patients three monthly and they should be able to record their drinks on every occasion so we can get an exact amount of the total consumption
