I am working on the speaking problems that EFL learners face during learning speaking skills. Do you have an idea of a validated questionnaire that tests the causes behind low speaking performance?
I don't know any questionnaires, but I also would like to learn the causes behind low speaking performance. Oral reflections of students show that they lack vocabulary knowledge, they feel nervous, they do not have anything to say, they think what they say is enough and so on.

Anecdotally it would seem that for some learners a bias towards grammar in language teaching can serve to inhibit speaking - in striving to achieve grammatical standards a student's oral fluency ends up being compromised.
