there are several methods for the extraction of chitin: chemical (deproteinisation by use use alkakine treatment), biological (of of protease) or gravimetric methods (sufficient weight of samples). You must adapte the methods according to your sample (weight) and the further analysis planed (objectives of the study, use of radiolabelled precursors of chitin...). See attached two publications dealing with the extraction: the first one with inscet mùodels and the secund one in crustacean species (review of the different methods) with data on several organisms such as insects for comparison. Finally, you find for more details three publication made on chitin (gravimetric method and study of chitin synthesis using radiollabelled precursors of chitin). Sir thanks for such a detailed answer, but i asked about chitin extraction from compound eye of any insect. my question was that is there any study upto now in the literature about this subject?
