I need to prepare synthetic groundwater with having certain composition of anion and cation. Is there any standard method, tool or software available for doing this ?

Hi, you can use the average ionic composition of your groundwater and then come up with recipe in a spreadsheet based on standard chemicals. Start with the major components of ionic composition (e.g. NaCl for Na and Cl groundwater type, Na2SO4 for Na and SO4 groundwater type, then add minor components, e.g. CaCO3 etc) and adjust quantities of each chemical to best match recipe's total concentration for a particular element (e.g. add up all Na in your chemicals to try and match total Na). Then finally you can adjust pH if required using HCl or H2SO4. Regards, Luke
