While I have found links between sexual trauma and STI risk, I am particularly curious about how STI testing and treatment can better serve traumatized populations. Anyone know of any research in this particular area?
I am familiar with incorporating trauma-informed approaches into curricula for adolescent sexual education, e.g. http://resourcesforresolvingviolence.com/wp-content/uploads/A-Trauma-Informed-Approach-for-Adolescent-Sexual-Health.pdf.
But, I don't know of any research of TIP being integrated into sexual health clinics. I think that many of the resources available for integrating (e.g. guidelines, organizational frameworks etc.) TIP into other settings, such as mental health and addiction services, could be easily adapted to this setting. What a good direction for future research!
