I am conducting research on the evolution and dissemination of the concept of ideology. I have observed that several works, aiming to provide an overview of its history, contain notable gaps. For instance, while the concept was originated in France by Destutt de Tracy and initially used pejoratively by Napoleon, I have been unable to locate any texts addressing the dissemination of the concept post-Napoleon. Most research transitions the discussion to the German context with a focus on Marx. However, I am intrigued by whether the term 'ideologist' remained a common political slur in France and the duration it took for the Marxist interpretation of the word to gain popularity. Thank you for your assistance.
