I am not aware on any scientific study on the correlation of zinc with incidence or mortality of COVID-19. However, zinc is an essential nutrient that helps our immune system. The person with strong immune system are not easily get infected. Zinc is present in a variety of food, such as nuts, seeds, dairy products, vegetables, dark chocolate, shell fish, meat etc.
Reports are there or not , need a literature browsing. But , it is claimed that fruits having citric acid are better suited for fight COVID 19, because of its abikity to facilitate better absorption of Fe and Zn...
ZN helps in building immune system besides Fe. Traditionally when we visit a patient in hospital we go with citrus fruits esp. mosambi and kamala orange.
We all know that zinc is an essential mineral ,which is required for the body's immune system. Therefore, eating of zinc rich foods will help to boost the immunity that will fight against infection. If an individual has a strong immunity, it will protect from infectious diseases including COVID-19.
I totally agree with the submissions from @ mahendra pal. In addition zinc itself is reported to have some antiviral properties which may help in the suppression of viral load load apart from its immune boosting potential. However, studies have to be conducted to actually correlate its use with the incidence of COVID-19 even though some take zinc as immune boost to reduce chances of infection from COVID-19 which is another area of research
There are no reports on the relationship between zinc status and the incidence or mortality of patients with COVID-19 because zinc is used as an immune booster, but there are cases of death in the world due to zinc poisoning due to its frequent use due to fear of COVID-19 disease
I have worked on the correlation between zinc status and covid-19 and write a manuscript that not submit it anywhere. May you please guide me for a good journal to submit?
Although commonly used and hyped to be beneficial, there has been no definite role of Zinc either alone or in combination with vitamins for patients with COVID-19.
