Great symbiotic association was found by investigators between rhizosphere of mangroves and microbial community in past few decades. But do the microbial community help in the process of bioaccumulation of certain heavy metals by mangroves from ambient water and sediment?

It is most proable, snce microorganisms are able to movilize metals through biolixiviation. Also, in bioprecipitation many microorganisms are able to mineralize metals in form of phosphate salts. As far as it is known, rhizosphere is a sinergic ecosystem between plants and microorganisms, hence nutrients and other compounds travle from one to the other. It'd be important to characterize de biodiversity of the microbial comuniti in order to see the main components of it and be able to know what are they doing with the metal species.
Microorganisms in the rhizosphere of mangroves are most Plant growth Promoting Rhizobacteria (PGPR), equipped with the capability of recycling of nutrients
and mangrove seedlings establishment by mineralization and also by the production of phytohormones. they ease up the plants against stress caused by heavy metal uptake. this ease up can be in the form of phytohormone production, phsophate solubilization, and catalase production.

I would like to contribute to this topic essncially, but I worked in a different field of science. From this reason I cannot provide you with more info. than authors of the above answers. Maybe some rather long term model experiments with mangrove and community of rhizosphere peformed with various heavy metals under conditions of their increasing concentrations could bring more light into this problem.
