I am working on the factors affecting the GW temp now.

my sampling database has about 3600 GW sample (include of Temp) in north of Iran.

I can't extract any relationship between Air Temp, Fault, Volcanic activity and ... with GW temp, yet.

Of cource I beleave that this factor affecting to GW Temp but very error source like as GW depth, Recharge, Air Temp, Techtonic activity and ... are exist.

I am intersting to this subject and development of it. I can prepare a map showing seismic event and GW Temp for more investigation.

thanks Ghafouri.. it is very interesting to deal with this large data set. It is needed to analyze and treat it in order to look for any correlation between the focal depth of events and water temperature. its my pleaseure to give you a hand if you are interested.

As i wrote earlier, i worked about factors affecting GW temperature. But up to now could not recognized or formulate a meaningful relation between various parameters and GW temp. It may be due to damping the effect of those parameters in unsaturated zone or by other affecting parameters. I believe that GW temp have a multivariate relation with several parameters such as GW depth, Recharge, Air Temp, Tectonic activity, Volcanic activity and ... that the weight of this parameters varying in the different area.

I will sent draft prepared map of my work for you via email.

What is your idea about more investigation with this data?

Could you extract meaningful information?

According to your suggestion based on correlation between Seismicity and Focal Depth with GW Temp, I prepare mentioned maps. The database that used for earthquake events have the bellow characteristics:

Min magnitude: 1 Max magnitude: 10

All recorded events: 14414

Time interval: 1900 Feb 24 – 2013 Jan 18 (No historical event)

No of recorded Focal Depth: 13753

Fig “GwTemp-Epicenter Earthquake” in the attached file (email) shows the spatial distribution of earthquake and GW Temp. I could not extract meaningful correlation from this map.

Also fig “GwTemp-EarthquakeDepth” in the attached file shows the spatial distribution of focal depth of earthquake and GW Temp. Although in some area reverse correlation are observable but it is not general behavior.

What is your viewpoint?

In the next day i prepared a correlation between GW Temp and Seismic Macrozonation Hazard Map. SMH map was prepared base on tectonic activity and seismic events (frequency, depth, intensity and …). Also GW Temp and DEM (topography).

If I can find GW depth map, it may reveal more information about system under consideration.

I am waiting for your views.

it is better to divide your area into three sub-areas based on water temp (High, moderate and low) and then you have to analyze different parameters related to each sub-area. I expect you will recognize a strong correlation between some parameters and water temp.
