I was studying the biological treatment (anaerobic) of wastewater biomass. I found that anaerobic bacteria take a comparatively longer time to biodegrade nitrogenous compounds. Is there any other way to enhance bacterial performance to biodegrade more nitrogenous substrates? I know aerobic treatment and microalgae-bacterial consortia could be one of the solutions. But is there any other microbes that would facilitate the bacterial performance to biodegrade nitrogenous substrates efficiently?
