Generally sand filters are considered to prove economical in a RWH design for larger built up areas from the filtration point of view. is there any other alternative filtration system that proves to be economical.

Wossink and Hunt (2002) address the questions facing design engineers and developers what is the optimum practice to select for a particular watershed size, land cost, and target pollutant. This report present an economic decision making tool as to what is the best practice to choose given a particular size of watershed, type of watershed as described by curve number range, soil type, and pollutant type.
