I tried to germinate stevia seeds both in vitro and ex vitro but non of them germinated? what can be wrong with it? are stevia's seeds poor in germination? does it need any treatment?
We have a lot of stevia. Had seedlings, plants and seeds. We grow it outside. We live in the urban equatorial tropics; not really that much direct sunlight, but plenty of humidity. The more we ignore it, the better it grows. When we water too much, that's when it dies. The soil is iron rick clay mixed with sand, bits of brick and some concrete gravel - a little bit of charcoal. At first, all started dying, then we just figured we'd let it die. After a few months of ignoring them, they were doing quite well. So, we just leave it that way. Pluck the dead stuff out and clip some of the mature leaves for sweeteners, but pretty much leave it alone.
