The transpiration rates in the plants are measured by using a potometer.
I was wondering if the transpiration rate could be measured by using a mathematical model based instrument/system.
If such instrument exists then could you please suggest it. Or if does't is it possible to develop such a system?
Considering a closed system having plant leaf, measure the leaf area index, note the temperature, monitor the total humidity inside the chamber and finally establish a relationship between these all variables.

There are a few instruments that have been on the market for a while that take quite a few measurements (I'm thinking specifically of the Li-Cor 6400). And there are various chamber options, although they are often small chambers.
