The Knudsen number is calculated by Kn=lam/lc. The mean free path of gas molecules (lam) can be calculated based on experimental condition . The characteristic length (lc) can be taken as the radius of the typical pore size. Once you have known the pore size distribution through experiments, you could calculate the Knudsen number under specific pressure and temperature conditions. The attached paper provides some data for gas shales.
