I want to design a engine with both 4 stroke and 2 stroke for better torque and lower fuel consumption. I want to know if we design a engine with both 2 stroke and 4 stroke, what would be disadvantage.
You can design an engine with multi fuels but its hard to design an engine with both type of strokes, because of valve timing system, combustion timing, power stroke !!! and many consideration but you don't get advantages from two stroke ! but you should try if you have goal.
I have already calculated about cam profile for valve timing of 2 stroke engine with 4 stroke engine and power balancing as well. for combustion we can use spark plug for 2 stroke engine. Is there any remaining factors we should consider.
I agree with Barham Mohamad. The compilation of 2 and 4 strokes engine type is probably impassible to achieve - but keep trying. You should to decide what type of engine you want to design. Some times ago (probably about 2007) any manufacuter of scooter's engine from Asia (now I don't remember wchich one) have made a 4 stroke engine (300ccm) with the circullar type steering of cam system - there are some similars to 2 stroke engine but it isn't 2 stroke. I think that you should work about it how to increase of engine's volumetric efficicency for NA engine type or high eficcient supercharging system - maybe intake system, in-cylinder load moving, ignition system and mixture preparation ssytem. The 2 strokes engines have very critical (low) environment values. This was the one of main reason to not use this type of engine for the newer vehicles (cars). One of the builded engine with the adventeges of 2 stroke engines was a Wankel engine - but the lifespan of the engine sealings and overall engine was very low.
thanks for your answers friends. I will consider your answers and keep trying to find what are the disadvantages of 2 stroke engine with 4 stroke engine. IF disadvantages overcomes means we have to alter the model. so I have to keep trying to give a better performance engine.
Consider the fundamental definitions of 2 stroke and 4 stroke engines. A 2 stroke engine has a firing stroke every revolution and a 4 stroke has a firing stroke every second revolution therefore an engine is either a 2 stroke or a 4 stroke, it cant be both by definition.
yes we should have to consider. I also try to tell about that. 2 stroke cylinder will get firing at every revolution and 4 stroke engine will get firing at every 2 revolution by designing of valve timing.
