Now I am doing reseach on silicone rubber composites to improve its mechanical properties and thermal stability using boron nitride filler. I only have one reference that states there is an effect of filler addition on crosslink density, but I think is not enough to get clear explanation about it.

For detail explanation about silicone rubber composites and the effect of filler addition on silicone rubber, my latest articles may be useful. In these studies, different silicone rubber composites were fabricated. For fabrication of composite silicone rubber membranes, polyethersulfone as support layer was synthesized. Effects of adding some filler such as polyvinylpyrrolidone, polyethyleneglycol and SiO2 on composite performance were investigated. In the following stage, the effects of MWCNT as filler on PDMS matrix were studied.

The cross-link density is likely to be affected if the surface chemistry of your filler contains similar reactive chemical groups as your matrix polymer. If you are working with epoxy, the paper below will be useful.

filler will affect the crosslinking mainly in following ways-
1)If incorporated in large amount it will occupy space in matrix resin and may lower the crosslink density in case it is totally inert.
2)In some cases the filler adsorbs matrix resin chain ends which act as a crosslink joint and will enhance crosslinking.
3)In certain cases crosslinking is affected by surface geometry, size and dispersion of filler and will be case specific.
so it has to be evaluated for every case.
