Waooo Mary C R Wilson what a excellent answer. I think happiness belongs to your inner feeling and success is the achievement most of the times judged by others
I think that both are subjective . . . what type of success? Yes, I do think that you can have success without happiness. A person might have forgone the sources of happiness (loving relationships, for example) to push for success with no regard for anything / anyone else would probably not be really happy?
But . . . if you are also including success in the field of relationships etc. Then, successful and loving relationships make for happiness.
. . . If you were successful in your occupation, then this would also be associated with happiness if you were happy in your work.
So, I expect there will be some interesting answers from ResearchGate members. I am looking forward to reading them. Prof Muhammad, it was a really interesting question, well worth 'recommending'; what do you think is the answer?

First we have to understand what makes a successful person.
My view is that “personal quality” makes successful person.
Then we have to understand what is “personal quality”.
According to Opatha (2010) personal quality is considered as an essential factor that determines a person’s development, others’ development, institutional development and nation development. Opatha (2010) states that personal quality is perceived as a concept considering of three dimensions such as,
1. Personal Character: the totality of persistent moral qualities a person has
2. Personal Management: the totality of attributes in planning and controlling a person’s life for achieving his or her life goals without wasting time, energy and available resources
3. Personal Key Success Factors: the vital qualities one should possess in order to accomplish a certain target which is desired state to be achieved in future
If a person has above mentioned dimensions of personal quality then he/she is a successful person. This leads to personal satisfaction and happiness. By considering all these I can say that “success and happiness are interconnected”.
