I am quite interested in the flow velocity of each river globally. However, most of the data I found in global scale hydrological database provide only discharge data. Is there any chance I can get the flow velocity data though public available datasets?

I think this concept of "flow velocity of each globally river" does not exist, because the speed of the rivers is generally characteristic of its stretches, the high, medium and low. I do not know how it would be possible to establish a single overall value!

Maybe if you make the question can I say for example, a Brazilian database with all of the major Brazilian rivers.

Thank you for your answer. I think maybe I need to make the question more explicit. I understand that the flow velocity is a very vague and complex term, and what I am expecting is relatively simple - a global map showing the average river flow velocity at each grid, assuming the velocity is constant at each point of a transition.
Actually I have find two paper discussing their algorithm of river flow velocity (see http://hal.archives-ouvertes.fr/docs/00/29/68/54/PDF/adgeo-5-133-2005.pdf and http://www.hydrol-earth-syst-sci-discuss.net/4/4389/2007/hessd-4-4389-2007.pdf). However, I am not sure whether they are public available, and I will be grateful if you would provide me suggestion about how to access one of these datasets.

You can search the data in the “Sistema Nacional de Informações sobre Recursos Hídricos” (National Information System on Water Resources) (http://www2.snirh.gov.br/home/) to get the data must register, but the system is open.
To get an idea of the data refer to (http://arquivos.ana.gov.br/institucional/spr/conjuntura/webSite_relatorioConjuntura/projeto/index.html).

The only problem is that is in Portuguese, but with automated translation systems, will not be something insurmountable. I access several sites in Chinese!

to my knowledge, there is no global database of measurment data available (as Rogerio Maestri already mentioned). For the Amazon basin, there is the ORE-Hybam database (http://www.ore-hybam.org/) available, including flow velocity measurements.
