I isolated phage against P.aeruginosa and tried to set up RAPD-PCR to detect my phages but my primers did not work. Is there a conservative sequence or housekeeping gene that could be recruited as primer design target?

Phages are very heterogeneous and thus it is very difficult to find conserve sequences of housekeeping genes. Do you have the phage genome? It would then be easier to design primers.
