It is well known that most journals differ on how fast they are to make the first decision, and on how promptly they get accepted articles online. Nonetheless, it's often difficult to obtain sufficient knowledge on the issue aforementioned, and difficult yet to obtain it in a manner that provides a sufficient comparison between groups of journals. All that you have mentioned regarding uploading articles, updating researchers on the current research trends and challenges in various fields are actually core values and essence of Research-gate. Perhaps, you have a manuscript in a particular journal and till under processing/review, I advise you have patience for the outcome and concentrate more on other technical papers you plan to submit or still working on. And by the way, most journals in Elsevier, Springer, Wiley and many other publishers do have manuscript review period (30 days, 40 days, 90 days etc) and time to appear online after acceptance.
