Considering the crisis in availability of irrigation water in future, even in South Asian countries, rice production should be made in system (s) where water requirement is less; for example, aerobic method of rice cultivation consumes less water; however, the nature of variations in crop physiology due to the shift from anaerobic to aerobic rhizosphere is not understood clearly.
My Dear Dr. K.G. Mandal Ji, Yes my dear physiology of the rice plant also change. The aerobic rice varieties have been bred and developed these varieties complete their physiological life in 110 days as compared to 130 days in puddled rice. Thanks
Is it possible to mention the name of a few varieties which have been developed for tropical/ sub-tropical conditions? What kind of changes are observed, apart from the duration, as you have mentioned? Is there any publication where changes in physiological phenomenon of rice plants due to aerobic condition, have been reported?
