I have tested drinking water sample with (total count, pseudomonas aeruginosa, T.Coliform and fecal strepto.)
I found that the M.edno LES AGAR have growth but the others no one colony, even the nutritive media (plate count agar)
so what kind of enteric bacteria that can growth only on M.Endo LES agar but not in the others ?
E. coli are facultative anaerobic, Gram-negative bacilli that will ferment lactose to produce hydrogen sulfid

Was the water dechlorinated before testing? With some methods, chlorinated water can be used, but in others it will lead to lowered counts. Also, was the total count done at 37 C (used for coliforms) or 20 C (little coliform growth)? I think it is unlikely that you have a strain that can only use lactose, and nothing else, since the pathway for lactose metabolism includes many other (easily transportable) substrates, so another explanation seems more likely. Does that make sense? Good luck!
