As far as I know there is up to this moment only the 'second order cybernetics' of which the extension and intension (see Frege's Begriffschrift) is quite different according to different authors. However summarily it is predicated upon a mixture of the 19th century -classical philosophy of mathematics (called 'formalism' whose authors were a.o. Hilbert, Ackermann, etc. and in the 20th century a.o. Russel and Whitehead) and the 20th century orthodox quantum physics (so, -Non-classical physics) of Bohr c.s. (see Lewis Carrol regarding the s.c. 'meta-language'), or the (radical) constructivism (going back to the 18th century, a.o. Giambattista Vico) or the 20th century Chilean biologists Varela and Maturana (with their 'autopoesis theory'), just to name a few.

My search after the '3rd order cybernetics' is inspired by the sequence of the 19th century classical cybernetics of a.o. Bogdanov (the 'tectology') referring to 'organization', followed in the early 20th century by the s.c. 'self-organization'. Consequently, the '3rd order cybernetics' as the end of the range should be a search of the 'self' (the 'auto'). However, this might be contradict the requirements of the classical mathematics (of the formalistic signature) that forbids any selfreferential feature (see e.g. the barber paradox). But on the other hand, any cognitive science 'll end with asking the question of the 'self' (the 'auto' if you like). Shall my search of the '3rd order cybernetics/systemscience' result in a blind alley? Please your answer!
