It is possible. You can use QD-ink type, so you don't need to do ligand exchange layer by layer. Here one paper about PbS-QD Ink type (DOI:10.1038/nmat4800). You can download and read.

PbS transistors w/o a protective shell wont work in air tho (https://scholar.google.co.uk/scholar?oi=bibs&cluster=3935812658985712127&btnI=1&hl=en) due to strong electron trapping.

I'm focusing on avoiding glovebox use seeing that i have very limited access to it .. also i am an electrical engineer so i also don't have much knowledge in the chemical processes and terminologies. this complicates things, but it would be great if you can recommend other options for the fabrication of the above discribed device.

Dear Sara,

you can do the ligand exchange in the solution (toluene) phase by one phase exchanged. It depends on the ligand you use also.

But there is another issue if you use QD-ink (remove all long ligand typically OA) in case of hybrid devices with organic materials due to solvent issue. In QD-ink you need to use solvent such as DFM or Butlyamine (BA) etc. which known can damage your organic films. So you need to consider about the structure that you use also.
