for already determined distribution coefficients in different systems aqueous solution/resin, via gamma spectroscopy, Is there a way to determine a stability constant in order to strengthen the description and discussion of the data?
The only available data is the gamma measurements.
Redoing the experiment via the pH determination will be an entirely different endeavor.
A solid/liquid distribution coefficient is typically determined for an analyte in a given solution matrix (e.g., ionic strength, pH) and for a given sorbent mass. The coefficient is determined under a condition that is well within the linear uptake portion of the isotherm (e.g., analyte quantity is well below the adsorption capacity of the mass of sorbent present in the experiment). Under this condition, you are measuring the relative affinity of an analyte between the solid and liquid phases.
To obtain a stability constant, you would need to know the mole quantities of the analyte and the analyte-accessible ligand on your solid phase. My guess is that you do not know the latter. Can you instead perform a liquid / liquid extraction between known analyte and ligand mole quantities?
Actually the ligand coated on the resin is 40% (w/w) so I have it. But I do not know the formula by which I can calculate the constant.
All of the samples I used were measured with radiotracers so their quantity is low enough and can be calculated in moles easily.
On the other hand I can not measure pH first because the samples are long gone and new ones will take to much resources.
