Related to my PhD-research I am looking for software that is capable of displaying multi-channel transcripts of linguistic data.
More precisely, I do have video data, that includes writte (chat) and spoken(audioconference) language data as well as visual data (scenes from an online roleplay game) that I want to analyze concerning the use of certain deictical elements.
Therefore I do not only have different speakers/writers but also the named different channels. From time to time these channels interfere with each other as for example Speaker1 is articulating on a audio level while Speaker2 reacts to this utterance in the chat, while Speaker1 is still speaking.
My Problem is, that I have not yet found a programm which allows me a transcript similar to musical scores where I can include timestamps while being able to depict overlaps in channel and/or speaker.
I would be very grateful for Ideas
ELAN allows time-aligned multi-speaker transciption that you can then export as subtitles. You can work with audio or video in ELAN.

I've been working with ELAN for a while now and I am positively surprised. Somehow my video file does not run on all machines I use (switching from Laptop to Desktop depending on where I am working) but the basic design is very nice and most of the time intuitive.
