Hi. In these studies it appears that B group is more susceptible, considering most O group.
Recently some studies investigated this correlation between ABO human blood groups and Rh factors and frequency of periodontal lesions and severity of these lesions among small sample sizes, some relationships were found and some authors considered this relationship as a risk predictor for developing periodontal lesions early in life. However, further long-term studies are required on a larger sample size and more detailed study design in order to make a more comprehensive assessment of the effects of ABO group on periodontal disease severity and progression on wider age group samples.
I browsed through Dr González-Gómez's linked articles and noticed that the between-group confounding factors such as smoking had not been normalized or if they had, I failed to find a mention of it.
Can someone point out a study done with adequate n and normalized against confounding factors which may bias the results? Sorry I didn't look through all of Dr Sharma's links, do you consider the science rigorously performed?

yes there is co relation between ABO blood group and Periodontitis. According to study conducted in Population of Virajpet, Karnataka (India) it was found that blood group O had a greater propensity for periodontitis. whereas in other study conducted showed that Patients with group B were found to be at greater risk of
developing more severe form of periodontitis. I am attaching the files for references.

In my opinion, there is no evidence linking blood groups like ABO to the periodontal status in an individual. The periodontal status is linked to the oral hygiene status ie bacterial plaque biofilm being the primary etiology and host modifying factors like diabetes mellitus and smoking and local contributing factors like crowding of the dentition and overhanging restorations playing a secondary role in the initiation and progression of periodontal disease. Susceptibility to the disease plays an important role when all these factors are accounted for in periodontal disease.
So individuals with ABO blood group can suffer from periodontal disease like any other individuals taking into consideration their oral hygiene status and if they are susceptible to the disease. If they have systemic and local factors, it can accelerate the disease like in any other individuals with similar issues.
However, if there are any research evidence to share with me on this link, I would be happy if any experts in the field can provide me with the references, for my information.
