We are conducting mixed methods using sequential exploratory design in two stages, the first stage consisted of three exploratory focus groups to inform the development of a cross-sectional survey. The second stage is a cross sectional survey with a large randomly selected sample. Could you please suggest any helpful reference or article?

I have devoted a chapter to this design in my recent book from Sage, Integrating Qualitative and Quantitative Methods.
Since the idea of sequential "exploratory designs" goes back to the landmark article by Jennifer Greene et al. (1989), you will find it discussed at length in almost every textbook on mixed methods.
