Hi all, I was thinking in English as a global language but besides colonialism, does analytical philosophy contribute to the expansion of the English language and the promotion of science?
as far as i'm concerned, there is no relation between the three. go back to the erra of the USA isolation. do you know what was happening while the rest of the world was fighting for the victory of every idiology?
At that time linguists were looking for a way to make English a world wide language, the first step was killing every dialect in the New World and making English the only language there. The second step creating the Internet and obliging that language as the only one to get through, then, the final step, obliging the use of that language in universities, institutions, conferences......so it is not a matter of existed relation, but it is a matter of palanning, envision, a type of prospecting , do you see my point of view sir????
I think the English language serves as a common medium for scientific communication, while analytical philosophy has contributed to our understanding of the nature of science.
Dear Malika Meherhera I see your point and understand it, but I want to go furhter maybe Mayada Nageeb Al-Maktary went to the point if "English language serves as a common medium for scientific communication, while analytical philosophy has contributed to our understanding of the nature of science." But why analytical philosophy was hosted by anglophone philosophy focused on analysis? And what was the effect in Sciences, of that integration.
Thanks sir Ignacio Nieto Larraín, I agree with you and even with Mayada Nageeb Al-Maktary, when you talk about a philosophical point of view. but what I mean is that any other language could be like English toward science and technology if it had a historical subsidise like it: The question ,then, is not to be English or not in order to have such a relation and interraction.
Dear Malika I dont agree, in the Mapuzungun language, there isn't a direct translation for 'nature,' nor do they have a concept akin to 'natural science', neihter of the notion of technology. Instead, their understanding encompasses a more holistic view, where the distinction between nature and humanity isn't as pronounced.
