In the UK forensic post-mortem plain X-ray imaging complements invasive autopsy. We mainly image for bony evidence. In some other countries (e.g. Belgium, Canada...) specialist forensic centres have been set up. Cross-sectional (CS) imaging is used in these centres as it reveals more information from soft tissues, bone etc. Should we be following suit and if so, why haven't we done so? Should CS imaging be the gold standard?
