Is there a proven case of cancer in humans when formocresol was used in pulpotomy?
It was always mentioned that formocresol is carcinogenic, yet, I am waiting to hear even one case in human that could be attributed to it after pulpotomy treatments were done using formocresol.
Mutagenic and carcinogenic effects of formacresol have been found in animal studies only. So far in about 27 years of clinical and academic experience, I have not seen any case suffering from formacresol induced malignant lesion.
Even i have been looking for some case report or study from 6 years could not find any. Though there are few animal studies but i am not sure if any human studies or case reports have been reported.
