I have recently been introduced to the 5 Network model of attention, and I am trying to integrate it's assumptions into my own model. One of the problems is that there has yet to be any link between the 5 Network Model and Dopaminergic Systems. If my theory that the Nucleus Accumbens is a load ballancing organ and acts like a clutch for initiation of new executive processing is right, we might expect to see a peak in Nucleus Accumbens Processing in the lead up to the peak in initialization processing in the Fronto-Parietal Network. One way of looking at this, is that the Fronto-Parietal Network acts like the motor, and the Nucleus Accumbens acts like the clutch, we can expect the motor to rev up a little just before the clutch is put in, a trough where the motor is allowed to drop to an idle, while the clutch is in, then once the clutch has been engaged again the lead up to peak processing.
