Is there a mathematical way to generate ficitious spatial (orientation) values for 2D shapes?

Is it possible to generate fictitious spatial (orientation) values for 2D shapes, outside of mere Cartesian forward or backwards extrusion from a perpendicular 2D plane?

For example ___________________________________________ could be a curved road seen at an angle of 30 Degrees to a pilot banking over a landscape as he comes into land at an airport.
