In India, we find it very difficult to promote organic farming, just because of the lack of proper marketing. Though government is helping farmers to take up organic farming, due to initial loss of productivity, farmers are hesitant to continue further. They also have to set a premium of 3-4% for organic products than the conventional products, but again lack of proper marketing is a hindrance. Is a cooperative a good approach in organics? We can link with MNC, but again they need in bulk quantity, and due to less production in initial years, farmers are reluctant to convert. Can anyone share good marketing models in organic farming.
