In my opinion, no, at least given the current state of creative capabilities of currently developed and implemented generative technologies of artificial intelligence trained to write a certain type of text. Currently, artificial intelligence is not able to create on its own without any instructions, guidelines, specific determinants, etc., a good book with real new content, new concepts, solutions, innovatively written content without committing hallucinations, various types of errors, creating "fictitious facts", without committing plagiarism, creating a text by "gluing" fragments of texts of other publications downloaded from the Internet, from online specific knowledge databases, indexing databases of scientific publications, articles of professional journals, newspaper articles, etc., without committing plagiarism. But it is not out of the question that within the framework of the rapid technological advances in the development of generative artificial intelligence technology, the refinement of techniques for training generative AI on increasingly large sets of data and information, the refinement of techniques for training generative AI using increasingly complex multi-layer artificial neural networks, using constantly improved deep learning processes, constantly improved algorithms created for a specific type of applications and uses of this technology, the involvement in these processes of increasingly fast and advanced microprocessors, quantum computers this may change in the future. Probably it will change if a certain type of texts will be created no longer only by generative artificial intelligence, but also by general artificial intelligence or strong super artificial intelligence. Besides, to objectively answer this question: can artificial intelligence write and publish better books than humans? - then the important issue is to determine what kind of books this question refers to. If it's about narrow-volume tutorials containing general knowledge, then probably the intelligent chatbots currently operating on the Internet would already be able to handle this well. But a human being still has to verify whether there are more or less errors to be corrected in the created text of this kind. On the other hand, in terms of writing voluminous books describing multifaceted complex issues, including scientific monographs, popular science literature containing various issues from narrow specialized fields of knowledge, including industry knowledge, scientific knowledge, security issues, critical knowledge, strategic knowledge, in which there can be no errors, hallucinations, fictitious facts, etc. and real new, innovative concepts, solutions to specific serious problems, solutions to critical crises are, unfortunately, currently created intelligent chatbots, available on the Internet intelligent agents based on generative artificial intelligence technology are so far unable to cope with this. Besides, taking into account the above-mentioned still numerous situations of committing plagiarism by intelligent chatbots creating texts based on online publication databases from which they draw data, content, information, etc..., the still frequent situations of not showing in source footnotes all publications written by other authors, including human authors, and the still not fully regulated issue of copyright for "works" created by artificial intelligence on behalf of humans is the issue of "writing" books by intelligent chatbots generates serious ethical considerations whether this kind of activity is ethical at all.
I am conducting research on this issue. I have described particularly relevant issues of opportunities and threats to the development of artificial intelligence technology in my article below:

The above text is entirely my own work written by me on the basis of my research.
In writing this text I did not use other sources or automatic text generation systems.
We do research to increase knowledge. Knowledge empowers us to create new jobs, new cashflow, new products, service and new industries provided the new things are reproducible and trustworthy. If the new things are not reproducible and trustworthy most people will not invest and the new knowledge disapears. If we create new thing with knowledge from dynamic databases nothing is reproducible since the basic data permanently is changing (machine learning). Thus with AI we dont create new tangible cash producing system - we create costs and that has to be financed by taxpayers. Soon some people will wake-up and force researchers to show them how AI, as opposed to automation, is a good thing for humanity
