In his attempt to formulate the laws of Physics in a form independent also of non-Galilean reference frames, Einstein formulated the chrono-geometrical theory of gravity, namely the General Theory of Relativity, within the framework of which the shape of space and the flow of time are determined by the motion of matter.
Einstein's theory of gravity constituted, as is well known, the mathematical framework for creating cosmological models which, despite the local character of Einstein's theory, aim to explain both the birth and the evolution of the Universe.
Dominant today is the quasi-metaphysical model of the Big Bang (referred to ironically as such by Hoyle).
