Various papers might cite they use from a gram to a hectare basis. For instance, some would suggest me to use from 0.05 to 1 mmol of NH4 or NO3 of fertilizer. However, where does this standard come from. Is there a way I can calculate how much I need for 60 g oven-dried or fresh soils based on a reference point?

Look at the weight of plow layer soil (about 0-15 cm). Generally, 2.2x106 kg/ha is considered. So, fertilizer calculation could be weight basis of dry soil for pot trial.
Try to establish adsorption isotherm for your soil so you can calculate the suitable amount of fertilizers that you need
I suggest for in-lab studies you take a balanced fertilizer and make a solution with an electrical conductivity of around 2 mmhos/cm. Less if the receiving soil has high salts. Then wet the soil to the optimum amount of water.
To calculate the fertilizer doses in the soil generally 2.2x 106 kg of soil per ha was considered as Dr. Biswas was suggested. From that you need to calculate for your required amount of soil from the doses you want to apply. But for isotopic studies I also fully agree to use analytical grade of chemicals as fertilizer as Dr. Shah has mentioned. During calculations you must take into consideration of moisture content of your soil.
