I think the classical book of Kline can help you. 

"principles and practice of Structural Equation Modeling" by Rex B Kline.

It covers several practical aspects with a lot of examples. It also has some output using different software.

But yes, it depends from the level of the material you are looking for and the software you want to use in particular if you are looking for input examples.

i  think this book or material whatever you call depends on which software you are going to use. Lisrel, AMOS, SAS, etc. have same principles underground but in practice stage (mean dealing with real data) , you have to select at least one software and must be expert. As a result learn SEM with which software you are planning to use, if you are not mathematician. 

I use AMOS software for  6 years and i advice you to read Barbara M. Byrne's book.

All of the books already mentioned are very good, but the best introductory text I can recall is "Introducing LISREL: A guide for the unitiated" by Diamantopoulous and Siguaw (2000).  It is not solely focused on LISREL software and is definitely a primer. Kline is also good, as noted by others, and there are a couple of good introductory chapters in "Multivariate Data Analysis" by Hair, Black, Babin and Anderson (2009). Thanks for these excellent suggestions - I will definitely check out each of them and see what best suits my needs!  In terms of level and program, I would be a beginner for SEM (I have training in multiple regression and HLM), and plan to use AMOS, at least to start with.

You may start your study on youtube by James Gaskin. He will guide you how to run SEM using AMOS.

I suggest the books written by the following authors: Kline, Loehlin, Hoyle, Hair, Byrne, Raykov. 

I suggest you a book "Using LISREL for structural equation modeling - A researcher's guide" by Kelloway published by SAGE publications.

Before reading any advanced book in SEM,  It is highly recommended to take a look at three final chapters of "Multivariate Data Analysis" (by Hair,  Black, Babin, & Anderson_Seventh Edition): Ch 11. Structural Equations Modeling Overview; Ch12. Confirmatory Factor Analysis;  Ch 13. Testing Structural Equations Models.

I would also recommend you to go through the book by Hair and Anderson on Multivariate Data Analysis. It is for both beginners vis-a-vis the seasoned ones.

What did help me a lot to do this in R was the introduction by John Fox (http://socserv.mcmaster.ca/jfox/Misc/sem/SEM-paper.pdf) and the CRAN package description (http://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/sem/sem.pdf).

If you should want to do this in another program (e.g. SPSS) you should take a look at AMOS (http://core.ecu.edu/psyc/wuenschk/MV/SEM/Path-SPSS-AMOS.pdf).

Try Alan Acock's book on SEM in Stata. .

My personal favorite is: Brown, T. A. (2006). Confirmatory factor analysis for applied research. New York: The Guilford Press.

It covers all the basic analyses and provides examples and syntax for Mplus, Amos, LISREL, EQS, CALIS. A very good book to get started with SEM analyses.

I really like Tim Keith's book (http://www.amazon.com/Multiple-Regression-Beyond-Timothy-Keith/dp/0205326447). It leads you right through from regression to path analysis to SEM.
